Tasting - Cupcake Prosecco

 Name: Cupcake Vineyards Prosecco

Variety: Prosecco

Region: Venito

Country: Italy

Year: 2022

Critic Review: The Prosecco was very light in the glass, nearly clear, and I caught hints of a green color when it was in just the right light. On the nose I got a fairly generic citrus aroma, and not much of one to be honest. In the mouth I picked up notes of peach and a hint of a toasted bread on the finish. All in all, it was fairly middle of the road with nothing to really make it stand out. However, I’d still recommend giving it a try. Why you ask? Because this wine very much fell into the category of “table bubbles” for me – it wasn’t spectacular or earth shaking, but it also wasn’t a disappointment, especially for around $10.

Wine Folly: The taste profile lists prosecco wine in general as being very acidic- I certainly agree and may even say this wine is more acidic than usual. I can't necessarily taste it, but my acid reflux is like an acid blood hound. Of the primary flavors listed I think the flavors I taste the most are honeydew and pear, and a little bit of cream.

Personal Review: I really like this wine! it's super light and refreshing, great for sipping on the beach (which I did). I paired it with a pb&j, which surprisingly went really well together. The lightness was the perfect foil for the heavy peanut butter. After having a glass by itself I enjoyed it with a splash of orange juice. The wine was already great by itself, but as a mimosa it was quite divine. This is definitely the best prosecco for mimosas I've had.
